A LETTER FROM ANDY GIDDINGS

Dear folks,
I have received many emails recently on the subject of the Tull line-up changes, most of the authors writing that they may not buy concert tickets in the future for reasons that are common to all. I have continued to adopt a positive stance in response to these constructive criticisms and although I have been mildly frustrated lately by reduced production, the loss of professional touring personnel and poor quality of life on the road, I have maintained open communication with the management and remained available to appear with JT in the future.

To my knowledge there has been no falling-out between myself and any bandmate. However, after sixteen years as the longest serving JT keyboardist I was disappointed to receive an email from Ian Anderson today in which he wrote that he would be continuing with the current line-up in 2008. With regard to next year being the band's 40th Anniversary, I was invited to appear only as a special guest on one or two of the UK shows. This was not only a surprise to me but with no explanation offered by bandmates or management, something of an insult.

To say I am perplexed would be an understatement.
I cannot to do a professional job in what I consider to be an undeservedly disrespectful environment and so I must draw this particular chapter of my career to a close. My only regret is that I do not know when I will see you kind and loyal folks again. You are the main reason I have enjoyed my involvement with JT and I hope you will come and say hello next time I am in your neighbourhood with another band or orchestra. While I am still listed on the JT web site I will continue to welcome your emails and maybe you will drop by my own music pages:
